The other day I went grocery shopping. As I was walking back out to my car, I found it surrounded by two little kids and their mother.
"Mommy, why isn't that bird moving?"
"He's just resting."
"Why is he resting upside down?"
"Get in the car. Our ice cream will melt."
I walked up to the car to see the resting bird. There it was - somehow attached to the front of the light. It was so brigh t I thought it was a stuffed animal at first.I didn't dare just kick it off, right in front of the little boys, so I just pretended I hadn't noticed and drove off.
The poor dang bird survived the trip home. AND a trip to Jake's parents. AND a trip out to Tremonton at my parents. 3 days, this dead guy hung on. It's little leg was stuck under the light. And I didn't feel right about just ripping him off.
And then the head fell off. I'll spare you those pictures.
Just remember this when you have a bad day.

Oh my heck, that is so hilarious and sad all at the same time! That was a pretty bird. When we lived in Montana a couple of summer's ago, we had a bat who died on the front of our car...right where your hood ornament should be. Colby wouldn't let me take him off because he thought it was cool, so he was stuck to our car for about a month.
How do you come up with this stuff! Wow! What a riot.
This story still makes me cry. Poor bird.
We always used to joke about running into parked cars...
We had a bird break its neck from running into our front door a couple weeks ago. It was a loud "thunk" so I am guessing it must have hurt. I actually think it was suicide. It had to be hard for that bird to fly that fast under our porch.
oh sick! Hey can I get your email address and Becca's too?
Poor bird, I can't believe you drove around with it on there for three days!
That is truely disgusting, and worst part is that you didn't even mention how you veered across three lanes into oncoming traffic just to hit the darn thing. That's my Ev.
Oh Evy Jean, that's too funny. Those things only happen to random people, I'm glad you could share that with all of us!
Seriously....3 days?? You left the poor thing there for 3 days?? Too funny... you should have taken a picture when it's head fell off!
Wow, that is exciting! Gross, but exciting. Hey, I decided to make my blog private so send me your email...laura_wilde@hotmail.com
Okay- so the other day I was driving to Plymouth to visit my parents ward and about 1 mile into the journey I was thinking about this very incident you had. "That would be the most disgusting thing to have stuck to the front of your car!" I said to myself. "If that ever happened to me I don't knwo what I would do!" About 7 miles later I came upon a group of birds and much to my dismay one stayed on the road way too long and I cringed as my car slammed into it! I quickly looked in my rear view mirror to see if I could see a dead bird on the road- NO BIRD!! I thought, "NO WAY!!" Well I didn't dare look when I got to church and forgot completely about the scenario until after church and my brother came in from playing outside at my moms, asking "Why is there a decapitated bird stuck to the front of your car Jacque?" I quickly replied that I thought he might be there, but hadn't dared look!!! I drove all the way back home and told Dave that he needed to remove the poor decapitated thing! He came back in a few minutes later and said "That bird was not decapited, just extremely smashed!!"
It was just too weird! Call it Karma? I don't know!
Oh my gosh! That is hilarious!
